Volunteer Opportunities

Bountiful Table – Free Lunch Event:

Our church is hosting free lunches every 3rd Saturday of the month for the community in the Social Hall. We are always looking for volunteers! If you would like to join the team or help in some sort of way, please call (925) 439-9361.

Little Free Library:

At this time I am looking for books specifically about baseball! The season is almost over and then the playoffs and World Series will be what all of our attention will be on. I know there are many good books out on this subject. I have a few but could use more for all ages. Please let me know and I can pick them up or give them to me on a Sunday. I am also accepting Christmas books all ages, too.

We are still working on replacing the stolen turf from around the libraries. Look our for the improvement.

Thank you,

Mary Burks

Contra Costa Interfaith Housing (CCIH) Opportunities for Involvement

We need your help.

Join the Ruby Slippers Committee: If you are a fun, energetic party planner, we’d welcome your help. Ruby Slippers, our annual gala auction, will be held at Diablo Country Club on February 4, 2017. This is our BIGGEST fundraising event of the year. We are looking for committee members to help with exciting auction packages, sponsorships, and ticket sales. To learn more, email elba@ccinterfaithhousing.org.

CCIH:  The Spirit of Giving 2016: We are preparing for our annual Spirit of Giving Program (formerly “Adopt a Family”).  We ask that your congregation or service community consider helping families and individuals in need at Garden Park (Pleasant Hill), Lakeside (Concord), East County (Pittsburg & Bay Point), and Scattered Site programs.  Profiles of each family or individual will be provided, along with a wish list and guidelines on how to help.  We match up our clients with each donor to ensure that each resident receives something special for the holidays.  Although our clients’ details and wishes are provided, anonymity will need to be preserved in order to protect confidentiality to help make this a special holiday season for our community in need.  Please contact Gloria Bertolozzi at gloria@ccinterfaithhousing.org.

Provide Dinner for a Monthly Resident Meeting:  These community meetings are essential in building community, reinforcing resident roles as community stakeholders, and allowing residents to learn important skills needed to improve their lives.  Volunteer groups prepare, serve, and share a meal for about 50 people.  Families, congregations, service clubs, and other groups are encouraged to sign-up.  JANUARY 2017 is in need of a sign-up. Please visit this website to volunteer:  www.tinyurl.com/ovepnva

Homework Club Support:  We are looking for compassionate individuals to help in our afterschool Homework Club that goes from August through June. Volunteers are needed at our Pittsburg, Bay Point and Pleasant Hill locations to provide academic and mentoring support to children from extremely low-income homes in grades K-12. Commitment is one afternoon per week. Adults and high school sophomores through seniors are encouraged to apply at www.ccinterfaithhousing.org/volunteer

Provide Furniture Hauling Services: Please help us furnish apartments for new residents stepping into their very own homes, often for the first time. We are always searching for ways to pick up and deliver these much-needed items. Do you have a truck and time during the week to help us? Volunteers are added to a list of available helpers. Please contact Gloria for more information at gloria@ccinterfaithhousing.org.

For more information or to get involved, go to our website: www.ccinterfaithhousing.org/volunteer,  Contact Volunteer & Outreach Manager Gloria Bertolozzi at gloria@ccinterfaithhousing.org or call (925) 448-2004.
